Welcome to the Blue Goose Marine Website!

Let me introduce myself, my name is Charlie Higginson, I am 15 years of age and still at school. I designed the Blue Goose Sliding Indicator Sign after seeing the arrangements a lot of sailors use to indicate that the Sea Cocks were “Open” or “Closed” on their boats. This was usually a scrap of paper or a simple post-it! note stuck on the dash saying “Sea Cocks Open” or “Sea Cocks Closed” I thought surely someone who has spent so much money on a boat shouldn’t have to rely on a scrap of paper that may fall off, to indicate such an important part of the start procedure when going to sea.

So I set about designing a simple but effective method which was easy to operate, showed the current state of the Sea Cocks at a glance, and was easy to install. It also had to look good. The sample versions of the Sliding Indicator Sign were so popular with the boaters on our marina that I approached Motor Boats Monthly magazine. They were eager to exhibit the sign in the “New Gear” section of their popular magazine. Before I could proceed I surfed the internet and visited every chandler I could find to ensure the sign was unique. To my utter amazement I could find nothing like it anywhere.

My ideas & designs

The sign was proving so successful that I decided to design another. The next sign was the "Gas On" – "Gas Off" sign. I thought this would also be useful not only to boaters but also anyone with a caravan. Boaters especially know the dangers of Gas lying low in the bilges.

The next sign was the BATTERY ON - BATTERY OFF sign, again as part of the start procedure when boarding your boat. After all the last thing you want is a flat battery!

I have colour coded the signs for identification. On the Sea Cocks Open/Shut I have gone for Red and Green, the Gas On - Gas Off I have used Yellow and Black and finally the Battery On - Battery Off I have used Red and Black. All signs are available in either Silver or Gold metalwork with self adhesive backing for quick and easy installation.
